What is the recipe of Paneer Butter Masala?

The ingredients required to make savoury paneer butter masala are:

● Two teaspoons oil
● One bay leaf
● 1/2 inch cinnamon stick
● 3-4 cloves
● 6-7 large garlic cloves
● 15 grams of ginger
● One large white onion
● 3-4 large tomatoes
● 10-15 whole cashews raw
● Two tablespoons unsalted butter
● 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
● 1/2 teaspoon Kashmiri red chilli powder
● 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
● One teaspoon sugar
● 1/2 tablespoon tomato paste optional
● Cream
● Salt as per taste
● 250 grams paneer cut into cubes – use Shuddh Paneer for excellent taste
● Two teaspoons dried fenugreek leaves
● chopped cilantro to garnish

Here are the steps for a tasty Paneer Butter Masala curry.

  1. Add oil to the pan. Add cloves, bay leaf and cinnamon sticks. Saute for a few minutes.
  2. Add ginger and garlic paste. Stir-fry till golden brown.
  3. Add finely chopped onions. Cook them for a few minutes, till they turn translucent.
  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes, cashews. Give it a mix. Add half a glass of water and cover the pan with a lid. Cook it for 15 minutes.
  5. Let the mixture cool down. Grind it to a smooth paste and keep it aside. Remember, let it cool down fully.
  6. To the same pan, add butter and oil. Let it heat.
  7. After the butter melts, add red chilli powder and Kashmiri chilli powder. It will give a good taste as well as red-orange colour to the gravy.
  8. Add the onion-tomato paste. Add cardamom powder, sugar, salt, bay leaf, cinnamon stick and 3-4 cloves.
  9. Add cream and give it a mix.
  10. Add diced cottage cheese and dry fenugreek leaves.
  11. Sprinkle the Paneer Butter Masala with cilantro leaves
  12. It’s ready to eat
